High Visibility Clothing… What you need to know, the basics.
All High Visibility Clothing supplied should confirm to a recognised British Standard. The current legal British Standard (set in line with the European Standard) for high visibility warning clothing is classed at BS EN471. All Safety Clothing should show the relevant CE mark to ensure it meets the relevant European Rules on the manufacture of safety clothing.
Although High Visibility shows the minimum safety standard mark, this does not ensure it is suitable for the job being carried out. It is an employer’s responsibility to ensure that staff are supplied the relevant BS EN safety mark clothing for the job in hand. The safety level of which can change depending on where the work is being carried out and the surrounding conditions.
